Edition38's Early Edition 2017
Share
Last year, Early Edition’s future was not looking promising. With poor attendance and blatant slating happening within the community, something drastic had to be done to prevent the show from fading away – the Edition38 team clearly needed to reassess the whole event. Well, they did just that… Finally, a new venue was announced for 2017 – Sywell Aerodrome, just down the road from their main “Show & Shine” event at Overstone Park (held in September). With the disappointment of 2016’s Early Edition, I don’t think anyone, including ourselves, knew what to expect with the new venue. However, I’m pleased to report that Edition38 have well and truly bounced back with their latest offering, which was almost on par with their main event. Venue-wise, Sywell Aerodrome provided some well-needed hard ground, an indoor hangar (carpeted and looking rather exclusive), plenty of traders, food/drink, plus a HUGE field-based showground. With plenty of room for expansion too, there’s no telling how big this event could now become… You know they’ve got it right when it actually feels like the Edition38 weekender on arrival – it had the vibe – something which the old venue just didn’t ever possess. The weather always makes for a better day, right? Enjoy our highlights below.

Evidently, the attendance level was up there with some of the biggest shows, which was rather impressive for a brand new venue! We loved the fact that the show field actually had a mixture of hard standing and soft ground – this really sets the feel of an event and doesn’t make you feel like you’re stuck in a field all day (It also makes for better photographs, too!). We spoke to our fair share of people throughout the day and the comments seemed to be generally positive – most would like to see more hangars if possible, more pre-selected quality cars at the forefront and more going on on the concrete areas. Oh, and let’s not forget the non-VAG. Edition, when are you going to give in and allow BMWs and the like into the show? We’d like still to see a small non-VAG area in the future – there’s plenty of space now to make this happen. Anyway, back to the positive… Early Edition 2017 was a breath of fresh air and has returned to being one of the most anticipated events of the year. Congratulations to everyone involved, we’ll be back. Don’t forget to check out the Bonus Gallery below…
