Lord Pembroke opened his gates again this year to host The Classic and Supercar show in the luxurious grounds of Wilton House, situated near Salisbury in Wiltshire. Visitors attended from all over the country (and even noticed a few foreign plates in the car park) for the chance to get up, close and personal with some of the most expensive cars that money can buy.
What a stunning piece of machinery this is, a DTM spec BMW.
Most of my morning was spent admiring the classic cars on display, like this Lamborghini Miura.
Of course there was an M1 on display. What a car…
Here’s one of a handful of E-Types that could be found throughout the grounds.
There was a spectacular turnout of Aston Martin’s, as the brand were celebrating their Centenary Weekend / 100th anniversary.
Just before midday crowds started to form around the private road leading up to Wilton House for the arrival of the super cars. This parade is the perfect chance to get a sensation of the noise these things can make. Most of the owners rev the cars all the way around the circuit up to the house, it made for some quite phenomenal sounds. Have a search on YouTube and you’ll see what I mean.
The car leading the pack was a Veyron, naturally.
After the awesome parade, the cars parked up so the public could have a better look and chat to the owners.
If the parade wasn’t enough to satisfy super car noise cravings, there was a “Rev off” later in the afternoon!
This collection of RUF’s caught my eye, all sitting pretty on the river bank.
So that was the main show. That’s not all from me though, of course I had to have a wonder around the car park…
PistonHeads offered a separate parking area for their members where there were a few delights, such as this OEM E30 M3.
A Lancia Delta, you don’t see these often.
You can probably tell by now that I am a Porsche fan, so I couldn’t resist snapping the rear of this tidy 964.
Wilton House is an incredible venue to host this show. It has a sort of ‘garden party’ vibe to it, tranquil/chilled out.. But with random spurts of a super car revving it’s nuts off! It’s truly an awesome day out – not something I’d normally intend to cover for the website, but it’s a rare opportunity to get close to some very pricey metal. Whether you are a fan of super cars or not, there’s something for everyone at Wilton House.
